Few words about me, the game and playing backgammon online...

Backgammon is one of the only board game that combine luck and skill. There are two people playing one against each other with 15 checkers each on a board consisting of 24 spaces. You move the checkers according to the rolls of the dice. The purpose is to bring your own checkers home and bear them off before your opponent does, while you trying to hit and block the enemy checkers along the way. The history of the game spread on more than 5000 years. Even the ancient Greeks and the Romans used to play the game. The game received it's name in the 17 century in England, where it also acquired it's correct rules and style of play. The doubling cube was added to the game only on 1920's. In recent year the game became one of the most popular board game on the world. Its especially popular on the Middle East where people over there play it almost everywhere - on the beach, at home, on holidays and of course on the Internet.

backgamon is the oldest known recorded game in history. Traditionally, it was believed to have originated in ancient Egypt, Sumeria, or Mesopotamia in the Persian empire (present-day Iran, Iraq, and Syria). However, more recent conclusive evidence indicates that the game originated on the eastern borders of Iran, near Afghanistan. Backgammon is a simple game with deep strategic elements. It does not take long to learn to play, although obscure situations do arise which require careful interpretation of the rules.
