Backgammon as a Gambling game

Backgammon became a populer gambling game from two main reasons: 1. It have the luck element. 2. It also have the skill element. People from one side belives that if they will be good enough and will know know all the strategies and methods of winning a game, they will be able to win the match all the time. from the other end, people still belive that they could win the game even if they dont have the right skills, they put their luck on luck (roll of the dice). in conclusion, all of the people who know how to play backgammon, belive that they can gamble on a match and win that match. that's what make backgammon so populer gambling game. Now you probably asking "where can i play backgammon for real money?", "casino" wont be the answer for that question. i have never seen a casino which have a backgammon tables or something like that. the answers to this question are 2 (again...): 1. play for real money with your friends at home. 2. play for real money on online backgammon matches.
I would like to put my focus on the second option, couse this is they way you will probably gamble. 99% of people who gamble on backgammon matches do it on online backgammon sites. one site, where i mostly play for real money is
play65. you play against real person and not against a computer program. you can also play on a tournament which give prize money for the winners and runners up. but lets focus on playing against another player on a "classic" match. in backgammon there is this thing which called "doubling cube". A doubling cube is a 6 sided die that instead of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 on it, has the numbers 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 on it. If a player believes his position to be superior he may, before his turn, double, i.e., demand that the game be played for twice the current stakes. The doubling cube is placed with the 2 side face up to show that the game's value has been doubled. His opponent must either accept the challenge or resign the game on the spot. Thereafter the right to redouble (double again) belongs exclusively to the player who last accepted a double. In this case, the cube is placed with the 4 face up. The game rarely is redoubled beyond 4 times the original stake, but there is no theoretical limit on the number of doubles. Even though 64 is the highest number on the doubling cube, the stakes may rise to 128, 256, 512 and so on. A common rule allows beavers - the right for a player to immediately redouble when offered the doubling cube. In this way, the stakes of the game can rise dramatically. For conclusion...If you like backgammon, play it for money and maybe you could make a living out of it! links to backgammon gambling sites
